In short: A part with no drawing and no replacement can be recreated. We measure it or scan it in 3D, build a CAD model and a working drawing, and from these the part can be made again, for example on a CNC machine. You need at least the part itself, even a worn one. Price and time depend on the complexity of the part, so we quote after seeing the part or photos with dimensions.
What can I do when a machine part cannot be bought?
First check whether there really is no replacement. Write down the catalogue number, the manufacturer marks and the machine type, then ask a supplier or a service shop. If the part is no longer sold, the model was discontinued or the original costs too much, the remaining option is to recreate the part from scratch from the physical part.
Recreating makes sense when the machine still works and is worth keeping, and downtime costs more than making one part to order.
How is a drawing made from a part: measurement or 3D scan?
We measure a simple part by hand and scan a part with a complex shape in 3D. Measuring is enough for bushings, shafts, flanges and plates, where a few dimensions and tolerances matter. A 3D scan helps when the part has curves, ribs or a shape that a few dimensions cannot describe.
The third way is an old drawing or documentation. Even a sketch with dimensions speeds up the work, but we still check it on the part, because a worn or modified part often differs from the drawing.
What do I get when the project is finished?
When the project is finished you get:
- a 3D model,
- working drawings in PDF and DWG,
- a STEP file that opens in most CAD programs.
A working drawing has dimensions, tolerances and a parts list, so it can be sent to any production shop. A STEP file carries the shape itself, so a supplier can set it up for machining without trouble.

Examples of drawings and models we prepared are on our design services page.
Can the material and hardness be recreated too?
We recreate the geometry and dimensions from the part, but the steel grade and heat treatment have to be established separately. Hints come from the marks on the part, the machine documentation and the way the part works. For heavily loaded parts such as gears and shafts it is worth confirming this before making the part, because a shape that matches the original does not guarantee the same durability.
When should strength be checked before making the part?
Strength is worth checking when the part carries heavy loads or when you change its design compared with the original. We then run a finite element analysis (FEA): the program shows where the part is most loaded. This way the weak point is visible on screen and not after a machine failure.

What do the price and time of recreating a part depend on?
Price and time depend on the complexity of the part, on whether we have it in hand, and on whether we recreate it 1:1 or improve the design. A simple bushing is a different amount of work than a gearbox with several shafts. We give a specific amount and date after seeing the part or a description of the task, because without that every number would be a guess.
What should I prepare to get a quote?
For a quote, send:
- the part itself for measuring or photos with the most important dimensions,
- an old drawing or sketch, if you have one,
- a short description of what the part does in the machine,
- the number of pieces.
The more we know about the place of installation, the fewer clarifications later.
Who makes the part after the design is done?
We can make it ourselves, using 5-axis CNC machining or welding services if it is a welded element. This way design and production are with one contractor and the drawing does not travel between companies. If you prefer another shop, you can pass the drawings and the STEP file on.

Frequently asked questions
Can a part be recreated without a drawing?
Yes. The part itself is enough for measuring or scanning, even a worn one. From it we build a 3D model and a working drawing.
Are photos enough for a quote?
For simple parts yes, if they show the key dimensions. For parts with fits we need the part itself to measure.
Does the project include a 3D model or only a drawing?
Both. You get a 3D model, working drawings in PDF and DWG, and a STEP file.
Can you make the part right away?
Yes. After the design we can make the part by CNC machining or welding, so the whole process is with one contractor.
How can I check that the recreated part will hold?
We run a finite element analysis (FEA) that shows the most loaded places before the part is made.
Do you have a part you cannot buy?
Send photos of the part with dimensions or describe what broke to biuro@omme.pl, or call: +48 570 471 653. We will assess whether the part can be recreated and prepare a quote. See also our contact page.
